Symptom

While converting a VM from VMware ESXi to Hyperion, the following error may occur: "not enough free space for conversion on filesystem".

This issue may occur because there is not enough free space inside the VM, namely in the VMDK file from VMware ESXi. During the conversion process, the VM must have free disk space for the operation to complete successfully.

Solution

Step 1. Increase virtual machine VMDK ("How to increase disk space for a VMDK on VMware ESXi")

Step 2. Login to Hyperion GUI

https://<your_ip_address_or_hostname>

Step 3. From Virtualization menu, click on Virtual machines

Step 4. Select the VM to clean up the old import

Step 5. Clean up of the old import by pressing Cleanup

Step 6. Import VM ("How to import a VMware ESXi VM into Syneto Hyperion")
