How to mount an ISO via IPMI

The operation requires the entire physical host to be rebooted

PREREQUISITES

IPMI: ensure you have access to the IPMI interface for remote management.
ISO: ensure you have the ISO file provided by Syneto Customer Support, for installation or upgrade.
Java: verify that Java is correctly installed on your system, to support necessary tools.
DHCP: ensure at least two IP addresses are available via DHCP, for network configuration.
VPN (avoid): if possible, avoid working through a VPN connection, for optimal performance.
Downtime: schedule appropriate downtime, as it will be required to complete this process.

 

Step 1. Shut down all VMs and VMware ESXi system

Step 2. Login to IPMI GUI

Step 3. Navigate to Remote Control menu

 

Step 4. Click on Launch Console button under “Current interface: JAVA plug-in”

Step 5. From IPMI console, lick on Virtual Media > Virtual Storage


Step 6. Click on CDROM&ISO


Step 7. Select ISO file, click on Open Image, select the ISO file and click on Plug in


Step 8. Check the outout and click on OK


Step 9. Go back to IPMI console (Step 5)

Step 10. Click on Power Control

 

Step 11. Reboot the system


Step 12. During reboot, immediately press F11 key to load the Boot Menu

Step 13. Select ISO from boot device
