SynetoOS on Dell PowerEdge 17th Generation Servers

This article lists Dell PowerEdge 17th Generation supported server models and related certified components for installing SynetoOS (Software Only).

PREREQUISITES

To ensure optimal performance, the following system requirements must be met:

Memory: SynetoOS requires a minimum of 32 GB of dedicated RAM.
Storage: At least 20% of the total storage capacity must remain free.
VMware ESXi: The Boot Environment is mandatory.
Syneto Hyperion: Two SSDs dedicated to the Hypervisor are required. Alternatively, a Boot Environment can be used if present.

  • The RAID Controller (H965i) is managed by the SynetoOS controller VM in passthrough.
  • The Embedded System Management (iDRAC 10 Enterprise) is used for remote out-of-band management.

 

Boot Environment

A boot environment on an x86 server consists of the hardware, firmware, and software components responsible for initializing the system and loading the operating system.
Syneto supports any of the boot environment options listed below. If a supported boot environment is available, the SynetoOS operating system will be installed on it.
