→ Applies to: VMware ESXi 6.5 and above

PREREQUISITES

OVA: download the OVA file;
DHCP: ensure at least one IP address is available via DHCP, for network configuration;
NO VPN: if possible, avoid working through a VPN connection, for optimal performance.

Step 1. Login to VMware ESXi GUI (replace <your_ip_address_or_hostname> with the correct ip/hostname)

https://<your_ip_address_or_hostname>

Step 2. Deploy the OVA file ("How to create a VM from OVA/OVF file in VMware ESXi")

IMPORTANT
Do not power on the SynetoOS 6 VM at the end of the OVA deployment process.

Ensure that "Power on automatically" option is unchecked.

Step 3. Edit virtual machine settings

Step 4. Check network settings

IMPORTANT
If a port group named "Syneto HC API Network" is not available, you can use the same port group as “VM Network”.

Step 5. Open the CPU settings and in Hardware virtualization check the option “Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS”

IMPORTANT
SynetoOS 6 with Hyperion will be installed only if the checkbox above is selected.
If you do not check this box, the system will install SynetoOS 6 for the ESXi hypervisor instead.

Step 6. Select VM Options

Step 7. The virtual machine boot mode must be set to EFI

Step 8. Open the Memory settings and verify that the VM has 32GB of RAM and that memory reservation is checked
