→ Applies to: VMware ESXi 6.7 and above
Ensure the following prerequisites are met before starting:
– Ensure that the ESXi host is running at least the minimum supported version and has a valid license. Please note that the free license is not supported.
– A datastore with a minimum of 100GB of free space is required for installing the SynetoOS software. Additionally, at least 500GB of space is needed for storing the copy data, which can be on the same datastore or a separate one.
Step 1. Install Syneto required VIBs via ESXi ("Updates")
To install the required Syneto VIBs, apply an update package from the link above by selecting either your current ESXi version (to re-apply it) or the next available one.
Step 2. Configure VMware ESXi ("How to Configure Networking and System Tuning for a Syneto HC Environment in VMware ESXi")
Step 3. Deploy OVA file ("How to Create a VM from OVA/OVF File in VMware ESXi")
IMPORTANT
After completing the OVA deployment, do not boot SynetoOS yet.
Step 4. Click on SynetoOS and click Edit

Step 5. Configure 32GB of RAM, then expand the Memory section and select Reserve all guest memory (All locked)

Step 6. Click on Add hard disk and select the space for the Hard disk 2

Step 7. Select VM Network for Network Adapter 1 and Syneto HC API Network for Network Adapter 2 and click Save

Step 8. Create a new user in VMware ESXi ("How to Create New Users in VMware ESXi")
Step 9. Power-on SynetoOS
