→ Applies to: Hyperion 9.x and above

PREREQUISITES

- Make sure the virtual machine is properly shut down before starting the conversion process.

- Verify that the version of the virtual machine you intend to convert to Syneto Hyperion is compatible (as shown in the table below). If the version is not listed, the conversion will not work properly.

Operating System

Supported versions

ALT Linux From version 9
CentOS From version 4 to version 10
Debian From version 6
Fedora Linux All
Microsoft Windows From Windows XP to Windows 11 (Windows Server up to 2025)
openSUSE From version 10
Oracle Linux All
Red Hat Enterprise Linux From version 4 to version 10
Scientific Linux From version 4 to version 7

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server

From version 10

Ubuntu

From version 10.04

It's important to note that even if the conversion fails due to an unsupported version, you can still install that operating system version on Syneto Hyperion as a new virtual machine. In this case, the virtual machine will function properly.

Step 1. Login to SynetoOS GUI

https://<your_ip_address_or_hostname>

Step 2. From Virtualization menu, click on Hypervisors

Step 3. Select the VMware ESXi VM you want to convert into a Syneto Hyperion VM

Step 4. In the top right corner, click on the three dots and then on Convert to Hyperion

The system will create a new VM (the converted VM) with the same name, without the UNREGISTERED icon.

Step 5. Power on the converted Syneto Hyperion VM
