This update is for HYPER Core systems running OS 5, HYPER Edge G2, HYPER Echo G1 and G2, and for Syneto Virtual Appliance.
Upgrading to this release will not require a reboot if the system is running on 5.4.0 version branch. Reboot is required when upgrading from 5.3.2 and older versions.
Introduction
This update enhances upgrade efficiency, replication stability, and UI reliability, paving the way for a seamless transition to SynetoOS 6.
New Features
OS Upgrade Mechanism
This version brings a new OS upgrade mechanism that enables faster and more reliable OS upgrades. The new OS upgrade mechanism also introduces a direct upgrade capability from SynetoOS 5 to the upcoming SynetoOS 6.
Resolved Issues
Replication
- Fixed the edge case where replication temporarily fails with "Get job has failed (object not found)".
- Fixed abnormal system behavior that could cause larger than expected data transfer size during replication tasks.
Web UI
- Fixed the UI lock up issues in scenarios when Aurora or Mercurio microservices are down.
- Improved how usable available storage is displayed on the Storage Widget and Pools page.
- Fixed an issue resulting in the Dashboard showing more free storage space than it is actually available.
- Fixed the OS Login Screen showing incorrect OS version.
- Fixed an error causing Add-on activation requests to fail.
Monitoring & Alerting
- Fixed an issue causing the Delete Alert recipient action to fail with an error: Contact point 'syneto notification recipients' is currently used by a notification policy.
- Improved the event details by adding info specific to the failed drive i.e. serial number, model, vendor when generated (for zfs pools).
- Improved mechanism for boot drive failure detection.
Known Issues
- In certain scenarios the system sends Grafana alerts for devices (datasources) that are not present in a specific system.
- In isolated edge cases a validation error will display incorrectly in the Create Pool modal.
- Uploading a file to Image Repository can get stuck if there is no space on the storage pool.
- In some scenarios user may not be able to remove a Granular File Recovery ISO mount from the UI.
- Granular File Recovery does not work with NTFS with deduplication enabled.
- Canceling a task does not cancel a sleeping subtask, which may re-appear in 2 hours.
- Terminating the Giove microservice can result in two replication tasks running at the same time.
- Replication Target is not be visible in the UI on the primary system if the replication target system does not allow SSH access.
