Running an outdated Guest Agent Tools version may cause certain features to malfunction, such as the ability to gracefully shut down the guest OS.

Symptom

The virtual machine is running a Guest Agent Tools version that requires an upgrade.

Solution

Step 1. Login to SynetoOS GUI (replace <your_ip_address_or_hostname> with the correct information)

Step 2. From Virtualization menu, click on Virtual machines

Step 3. Select the VM on which you want to upgrade the guest tools

Step 4. From the right panel, click on Install next to Guest Agent Tools

If the Install button is available, follow Step 8 and Step 9
If the Install button is greyed out, follow Step 5 (Optional), Steps 6 (Optional), Steps 7 (Optional) and Steps 8 (Optional)

Step 5 (Optional). Click on the 3 dots and select Edit hardware

Step 6 (Optional). From the Optical drives section, click on Add optical drive, then select Update

Step 7 (Optional). From the right panel, click on Install next to Guest Agent Tools

Step 8. Select Install to mount the guest tools

Step 9. Log in to your VM and proceed with the Guest Agent Tools installation
