How to reinstall SynetoFileRecovery VM in SynetoOS 4

→ Applies to: SynetoOS 4.x

Ensure the following parameters are verified before starting the process:

– datastore1 has at least 15 GB of available space
– SynetoOS is connected to Internet
– If there's a firewall, it's configured to allow all the traffic 

 

Step 1. Login to VMware ESXi GUI

Step 2. Navigate to Virtual Machine and click on SynetoFileRecovery VM

Step 3. Click Power off button to shutdown the VM and wait to process to finish

 

Step 4. Right-click on SynetoFileRecovery VM and select Unregister

 

Step 5. Navigate to Storage, click on Datastore browser and then on datastore1

Step 6. Right-click on SynetoFileRecovery folder and select Delete

 

Step 7. Connect to SynetoOS appliance via SSH as admin

ssh admin@<your_ip_address_or_hostname>

 

Step 8. Remove this file 

rm ~admin/ .bash_profile

 

Step 9. Change directory

cd /usr/share/luna

 

Step 10. Verify if “syslog_config” file exists

If the file doesn't exist, create it using VI.

vi syslog_config

To save changes in VI, press Esc, type :wq and press Enter.

 

Step 11. Run the SynetoFileRecovery VM configuration

luna run

 

The process may take up to 20 minutes.
