This update is for HYPER Core G4, HYPER Edge G2, HYPER Echo G1 and HYPER Echo G2.

Upgrading to this release will not require a reboot if the system is running version 5.3.0 or 5.3.1. Reboot is required when upgrading from 5.2.1 and older versions.

Introduction

This update includes multiple bug fixes for in the areas of security, protection, and usability, as well as internal SynetoOS mechanisms.

Resolved issues

Protection

• Fixed a bug that could cause external VMs to become unprotected after the upgrade to 5.3.0.
   
• Fixed a bug that would cause protections fail due to expiring VMware server session.

Replication

• Fixed a bug that resulted in replication failing due to insufficient memory instead of alerting about lack of memory and completing the replication.
   
• Improved the replication bandwidth management, fixed an issue where bandwidth allocated for failed replications is not freed up causing the subsequent replications to run slow.

Security

• Fixed the system behavior that caused user password exposure in logs in case of an unhandled exception during login.

Web UI

• Fixed UI behavior that incorrectly rendered the Fields on Alerts page.
   
• Fixed a rendering issue that caused inability to activate MFA on displays with low resolution.
   
• Fixed an issue causing the Virtual Machines list to display incorrectly after the upgrade to 5.3.0.
   
• Fixed a bug that could cause the VM power state to be incorrectly reported as OFF.
   
• Corrected the UI microcopy for a scenario when user is performing a clone and wrong text is displayed in the select boxes if both standalone ESXi and VCSA are connected.
   
• Fixed a bug that caused virtual machines not displayed when Storage DRS is enabled.
   
• Fixed a bug that caused inability to remove an offline replication target from SLA policies.
   
• Fixed a bug that caused an intermittent SATA error when adding a new drive to a VM.

Monitoring and Alerting

• Fixed a bug that prevented customers who use Office365 from sending alerts due to hardcoded sender address.
   
• Fixed a bug that caused email alert sending to fail when the service is configured without authentication.
   
• Fixed an Echo G2 specific bug that resulted in NVMe drive diagnostic LEDs not blinking.
   
• Improved the email Alerting service to send a copy of email alerts to Syneto Support if SerenITy is enabled.

Storage Management

• Fixed a bug that would enable deduplication on any system when a Manual snapshot is performed.
• Fixed a bug that caused the deduplication to activate after certain actions, including when volumes are edited.
• Fixed the behavior that would cause the Integrity Check to be Disabled After Upgrading. 

Known issues

• Replications stuck / not being performed anymore.
• Failure in Copying to New Virtual Machine from Replica.
• Volume Type Mismatch on VM Copy.
• VM Replica disappears on the replication target.
• Replication does not work if 4 replication schedules are in place simultaneously.
• Replicas terminated successfully but not visible in the target system.
• Replication error: destination exists but unrelated with source.
