Data transfer performance is not optimal when handling large amounts of data. This is because network traffic processing is CPU-bound and can therefore be negatively impacted by CPU constraints.
The solution proposed here offloads network traffic processing from the CPU to a network interface card (NIC), significantly improving data transfer performance over the network. The performance improvement is directly related to the capacity of the network card (1GB or 10GB) and switching capacity.
NOTE
At least 1 free uplink not used in other vSwitches is required.
Step 1. Shutdown all VMs
Step 2. Login to VMware ESXi GUI
Step 3. Add a new virtual switch (Networking menu, Virtual switches tab)
Step 4. Create a new port group (Networking menu, Port groups tab)
Step 5. Add a new network adapter on the SynetoOS VM
- From SynetoOS VM, enter Edit settings and click on Add a network adapter
- Select the Port group just created and make sure Adapter Type is set to VMXNET3
- Click Save button
