How to Make a Fresh Installation of SynetoOS + VMware ESXi

The installation requires the entire physical host to be rebooted

PREREQUISITES

IPMI: ensure you have access to the IPMI interface for remote management;
ISO: download the correct ISO file based on the versions of SynetoOS you want to install

   SynetoOS 6.0.2.7376 GA + VMware ESXi 8.0U3i
   SynetoOS 6.0.2.7376 GA + VMware ESXi 7.0U3w
   SynetoOS 6.0.1.7080 GA + VMware ESXi 8.0U3g
   SynetoOS 6.0.1.7080 GA + VMware ESXi 7.0U3w
   SynetoOS 5.4.1.5266 + VMware ESXi 8.0U3d
   SynetoOS 5.4.1.5266 + VMware ESXi 7.0U3s
   SynetoOS 4.8.6.4777 + VMware ESXi 7.0U3p
 

IMPORTANT

Ensure the Boot Mode is configured to either Legacy or Dual before proceeding

 

Step 1. Set the IPMI session timeout to 0 ("How to Set the IPMI Session Timeout to 0")

Step 2. Shut down all VMs and VMware ESXi system

Step 3. Erase partitions and data from disks ("How to Erase Disks Before Installing ESXi on Bare Metal Servers with GParted")

Step 4. Run the ISO from IPMI ("How to Mount an ISO via IPMI")

Step 5. Select the newly mounted ISO via IPMI and boot it up


Step 6. Wait for VMware ESXi installation to finish (about 1 hour)

Once the process is complete, enter the BIOS settings again and switch the Boot Mode back to UEFI.

Step 7. Login to VMware ESXi GUI (replace <your_ip_address_or_hostname> with the correct ip/hostname)
