How to solve SynetoOS 6 update failure when "Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS" is checked in VMware ESXi

When upgrading from SynetoOS 5 to SynetoOS 6, the process may get stuck between 15% and 20% completion.

To resolve this issue, follow the steps in this article.


PREREQUISITES

It is mandatory to uncheck the "Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS" option before upgrading from SynetoOS 5 to SynetoOS 6.
 

Step 1. Login to VMware ESXi GUI (replace <your_ip_address_or_hostname> with the correct ip/hostname)

Step 2. Click on Virtual Machines

 

Step 3. Shutdown all VMs

Step 4. Access Edit settings page on SynetoOS VM

 

Step 5. Open the CPU settings and in Hardware virtualization uncheck the option “Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS”, then click on Save

 

Step 6. Power on SynetoOS

Wait for all SynetoOS services to be up and running before powering on the VMs.


Step 7. Power on VMs
