How to Update Macron NVMe Firmware in VMware ESXi

PREREQUISITES

Remote Board: ensure you have access to the remote board interface for remote management;
Java: verify that Java is correctly installed on your workstation, to support the installation of the operating system;
ISO: download the ISO
   Rocky Linux + NVME Firmware

 

Step 1. Mount ISO via IPMI ("How to Mount an ISO via IPMI")

Wait for the Rocky Linux Live CD to boot

 

Step 2. From IPMI console, click on Virtual Media > Virtual Keyboard

 

Step 3. From Virtual Keyboard, click on Start icon

 

Step 4. Open the Terminal

IMPORTANT
Mouse functionality is not available in this area of the system. Please navigate using the keyboard.

 

Step 5. Become Super User

sudo su

 

Step 6. Start the update

bash /run/initramfs/live/micron-tools/micron-update.sh

IMPORTANT
For the / use the Virtual Keyboard
The update should output SUCCESS

 

Step 7. From IPMI console, lick on Virtual Media > Virtual Storage


Step 8. Click on Plug Out, then click OK

 

Step 9. Reboot the system


Step 10. During reboot, immediately press DEL key to load the BIOS Menu

Step 11. Navigate to Advanced menu

 

Step 12. Click on IIO Configuration button

 

Step 13. Click on North Bridge button

 

Step 14. Set PCIe ASPM Support (Global) to Disabled

 

 Step 15. Power On the system
